Technology Council

What: NEW PRE PTA Technology Council Informational Session

When: Wednesday, October 26 at 7PM

Where: Online!

(Google Meet: https://meet.google.com/nqj-urnv-xky)

Challenge: North Carolina is one of the largest and fastest growing technology hubs in the southeast, and Wake County is at its epicenter.  As technology changes the labor market, are we providing North Carolina students with the tech exposure, knowledge and educational opportunities that prepare them for the shift in jobs?

If you are a computer scientist, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, network administrator, or have a passion for bringing technology to students, the Penny Road Elementary Parent Teacher Association (PTA) wants you for a brand new Technology Council! This exploratory council will meet to determine ways that we can get our PRE pandas excited about technology!  Some preliminary examples of activities that the Council may pursue include (but are not limited to!):

·           Starting an after school coding or robotics club,

·           Identifying fundraising matching opportunities at tech companies that could be pursued to bolster efforts in the area of technology,

·           Hosting a technology week or day that brings in researchers and technologists to expose our elementary schoolers to the latest and greatest prototypes and technologies,

·           Hosting a technology pilot at PRE that gives the children access to new skills, or

·           Making recommendations regarding programs and technology that could be used at PRE.

If you are passionate about tech, please consider this exciting opportunity to help shape how our children will prepare for the jobs of the future.  Please email Jennifer.onorato@gmail.com to express interest, or for more information.
